My experiences with White Castle sides haven’t been all that encouraging in the past, but people can let bygones be bygones when they’re hungry (and sitting on a coupon that’s about to expire). So what happened here? Not only were these chicken rings from White Castle hot and fresh outta the fryer, but they compared nicely to McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets in taste and texture, if not in overall shape. In fact, I was so busy gobbling ‘em up and taking pics that I didn’t bother to check ‘n’ see whether I got six rings or not with my order. Regardless of how many I got, they were all pretty good.

Like other White Castle sandwich standbys, the chicken on offer here is flatter than your typical rounded onion ring, and might give the impression of not giving you all that much. The meat is quite satisfying, however, and a decent deal — unless you can find a Wendy’s nearby to provide you nuggets for a dollar. Multiple sauces are also available for inclusion with this side, but I simply fell back on prosaic barbecue sauce to supply a modicum of zing to this affair. (Honey Mustard or, better still, Zesty Zing might’ve done a better job of that, admittedly.) If you want something to go with your burger, you could certainly do a lot worse.
